AirVenture 2001
I may be bias but this must be the prettiest plane of the show. Good work Tony. 7/31/01 Tony had some competition this year though. Scott Casler flew in his VW powered Sonex. 7/31/01
You did not think I spent all my time at the Sonex booth. 7/31/01 There seems to be new Corsairs there every year. 7/31/01
The Avenger is such a neat plane. 7/31/01 Here's a close up of the TBF-1's very clever wing hinge for Dave Piercy . 7/31/01
booth. 7/31/01 The Czech L-39's were every where this year. 7/31/01
Here is another Soviet Block jet. 7/31/01 This Soviet bear is holding on for dear life as all his cash is being sucked into the engine. Do you think this has some special meaning for this jet's owner? 7/31/01
Here is a warbird you don't see often. 7/31/01 Here is another odd bird. 7/31/01
Now this is just "plane" scary. 7/31/01 With eight 50 cals it is even scarier. 7/31/01
Then there were the rows of T-34s. 7/31/01 Here is an odd ball. It looks like a four seat, T-34. 7/31/01
This P-51 was for sale. Could anybody loan me $1,300,000? 7/31/01 This Wildcat was a bargain for $995,000. 7/31/01
Sweeeet. 7/31/01 Verrrrryy sweeeet. 7/31/01
I wonder if I could fit these onto my Sonex? 7/31/01 Never mind I got enough flak from John about my electric flaps. 7/31/01
With one of these I could be as handsome as Ben Affleck. 7/31/01 Of course, I would need to be as rich as Ben to afford the gas. 7/31/01
Here come the T-6 formations. 7/31/01 And there they go. 7/31/01
T-34's, smoke on. 7/31/01 There is only one thing that sounds sweeter than a P-51 on take off roll.... 7/31/01
....and that is two P-51s on take off roll... 7/31/01 ...with a Spitfire close behind. 7/31/01
My new digital camera can also take short Quicktime movies. Careful thought this one is 3,102Kb. 7/31/01 Here is another Quicktime of a F-86 on takeoff roll 1,226Kb. 7/31/01
Here is a quicktime of the T-34 formation passing overhead 4,138Kb. 7/31/01 And a Quicktime of a Corsair taking off 1,540Kb. 7/31/01
This Stearman was a beauty. 7/31/01 Just wipe off the grease and every Stearman will shine like this, right?. 7/31/01
I may have found the perfect paint job for my Sonex. 7/31/01 What was he thinking?. 7/31/01
If you thought electric flaps on a Sonex was crazy how about a Long-eze with a 400 lbs. thrust rocket engine!. 7/31/01 I could not tell which was bigger and noisier, this plane or some of the motorhomes I camped next to. 7/31/01
Our own Ian Clark has a personal connection to the Vimy. 7/31/01 His grandfather was an apprentice in the Vickers factory when the original Vimy was being built. 7/31/01
The pyro guys were having way to much fun again this year. 7/31/01 There was not one but two of the rare P-51Cs on the field this year. 7/31/01
The weather was cooler this year but it was not this cool. 7/31/01 The camp grounds were quite full this year but my local Chapter 33 reserved camping spots for us this year. 7/31/01
