Workshop

I attended the First Sonex Workshop on November 7-8 1998. It was a great experience and I encourage anyone that wants to build a Sonex to attend. You can click on the images for a closer look.

Here is a picture of John Monnett leading the workshop.
This is a view of the firewall.
This is a view of the fuselage looking aft.
This is the instrument panel of the tri-gear prototype, which was near completion at the time.
This is the instrument panel of prototype #1. I was able to sit in the cockpit with my wife to judge the size. I am 5'11" 220 lbs. and my wife is 5'6". We found it to be cozy. About the same as a Cessna 150. The curve of the canopy was just touching the topside of my head. Some of the taller guys were sure it would be a problem with a headset on.
Here is the Jabiru 4 cylinder engine on the tri-gear prototype.
This is a lower view of the 6-cylinder Jabiru engine that they had just installed in prototype #1.
Here is another view of  6 cylinder Jabiru engine.
This is a look under the instrument panel at the rudder pedals. Note the push rod in the center that goes to the steerable nose wheel.
This is the wing root.
This is a look at the control stick and the structure that holds the main gear in the tri-gear version.
Here is a good look at the tail.
